Off the Cuff Talks:
Today in “Off The Cuff” Talks, I will talk about "Lessons from a Lazy Afternoon – The Importance of Doing Nothing":
Rest is important for enhancing productivity-slowing down and resting actually recharges one’s mental and physical batteries.
Creativity blossoms in stillness-some wonderful ideas knock in the mind when its totally free to wander like during a nap, a walk or staring out of window!
Presence in the moment- Lazy afternoon teaches one to be present in the moment. Instead of chasing past or future- one should enjoy in the now.
Emotional reset- In a lazy afternoon, when one does nothing, in absence of all pressures and distractions, one gains clarity and self reflections.
Living mindfully- one realises that he/she is not a robot but a human being and life is much more and beyond goals, checklists and achievements, etc.
Joy in Small Things- the unnoticed things become so much noticeable- the running water and sound of wind and rustling leaves. Nature is a complete movie to watch and observe.
Reduced stress and anxiety- rest lowers cortisol levels, burn out is reduced and nervous system is balanced
Better choices- once the mind is fully rested, it gets rid of clogging and disarray and better decision making is enhanced.
Know Yourself better- In silence, golden hours are spent with oneself, you get to know yourself more and better, your thoughts, rhythms and true desires. You build a deeper connection with yourself.
Freedom from hustle- overall personality development demands balance in life- between activity and rest states, then only a person is mentally and physically firt enough and well prepared for success in life.
